2008 Honda S2000 CR 2008 Honda S2000 CR

2008 Honda S2000 CR The S2000 CR is an entirely new trim level for 2008. The lighter, stiffer and more aggressive overall design is engineered to maximize the S2000's potential on a racetrack with the goal of substantially improving track times, chassis balance and feel. Compared to the S2000, the factory-tuned S2000 CR provides more aggressive track-oriented suspension settings, increased body and chassis rigidity, overall weight reduction, and aerodynamic spoilers tuned for reduced lift and enhanced chassis balance at high speeds. A removable aluminum hardtop replaces the convertible soft top. The aerodynamic package reduces lift through large and specially-tuned front and rear spoilers. Exclusive chassis features include a quicker steering ratio, more aggressive Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires (in place of RE050 tires), a larger rear tire size, firmer springs and dampers, larger stabilizer bars and the S2000's new wheel design in Kaiser Silver. A rear body brace has been added to the area previously occupied by the soft top, resulting in additional rigidity. Relative to the base 2008 S2000, cumulative weight savings total 51 pounds (hardtop installed) and 99 pounds (hardtop removed). A sport-tuned muffler adds to the vehicles heightened performance feel. The S2000 CR interior follows traditional racecar themes. Fabric seating surfaces with yellow stitching help create a sporty appearance while synthetic suede bolsters enhance lateral grip. An exclusive spherical aluminum shift knob on the S2000 CR rests 12.6 mm lower for a 6 percent reduction in shift stroke compared to the conventional S2000 cylindrical shift knob (aluminum/leather wrapped). Additionally, shift load effort increases by 10 percent for even more direct feedback when engaging a gear. The S2000 CR instrument panel meters include a "peak-power indicator." When the engine is operating at peak power, a round, green light illuminates to the right of the digital speedometer. To save weight, air conditioning and an AM/FM/CD audio system are only available as factory-installed optional equipment. The design and engineering concept for the S2000 is to deliver race-car-like performance and handling-something an enthusiast driver could use and enjoy, even in everyday driving situations. In addition, the S2000 is intended to be a modern, socially-responsible automobile with low emissions. The S2000's roadster layout also captures the spirit of the legendary high-performance sports cars of the past, as well as Honda's very first sports car, the S500 roadster. However, the S2000 makes no attempt to be a retro sports car. It is a unique, Honda interpretation of a modern sports car - with high performance, state-of-the-art technology, style, and Honda durability, quality and refinement. 2009 Nissan 370Z In the first full redesign of the iconic Nissan Z since its re-introduction as a 2003 model, nearly every piece and component has been rethought or redesigned – shorter wheelbase, greater use of lightweight body materials, new engine with more horsepower and improved fuel economy, a new 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, a world's first synchronized downshift rev matching system for the manual transmission, new high quality driver-centric interior and new available technology features. But to get the full measure of the new model, now designated the Nissan 370Z, one need look no farther than the subtle upswept line of the new rear quarter window. Quintessentially Z, the window harkens back to the original 1970 240Z – a car that revolutionized the sports car world with its unique combination of performance, style and, especially, value. The new 370Z solidifies the Z's position as one of the most desirable sports cars on the planet – at an affordable price – bringing true sports car performance to everyone. "The fresh character of the 2009 Nissan 370Z is immediately apparent in the crisp new exterior design, which is sportier yet still immensely identifiable as a Nissan Z," said Al Castignetti, vice president, Sales, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. "One usually thinks of evolution as being linear. The new 370Z's 'super evolution' builds on the best features of both the first and last generations Z–cars – respectful but not retro, simple yet sophisticated, and 110 percent pure Z." Solidifying the strengths of its immediate predecessor, the new 370Z was conceived as an "Everyday Sports Car," targeting segment-leading performance and a base MSRP of around USD$30,000. "The new 370Z lives in the sweet spot of performance, style and value, a position that Nissan invented with the original Z. It's an authentic sports car that you don't have to make sacrifices to own – or drive everyday," said Castignetti. The new 2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe model is scheduled to go on sale in North America in January 2009, followed by a new 370Z Roadster for the 2010 model year. 2009 Porsche 911 Targa 4S 2009 Porsche 911 Targa 4S 2009 Porsche 911 Targa 4S

2009 Porsche 911 Targa 4S Introducing the new 911 Targa, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is completing the fastest generation change the world has ever seen in the 911 model series: Two new power units with direct fuel injection improve both performance and the economy of the new model, the fast-shifting PDK Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe or double-clutch gearbox replaces the optional Tiptronic S automatic transmission, and electronically controlled PTM Porsche Traction Management takes the place of the former all-wheel drive. The latest model series in the new generation of the 911 comes as before in two variants, as the 911 Targa 4 and the 911 Targa 4S. The "basic" version is now powered by a 3.6-litre flat-six developing maximum output of 345 bhp (254 kW) and giving the car a top speed of 284 km/h or 176 mph. The power unit featured in the 911 Targa 4S displaces 3.8 liters, developing maximum output of 385 bhp (283 kW) and accelerating this outstanding sports car to a top speed of 297 km/h or 184 mph. The visual highlight of the 911 Targa, as before, is the 1.54-square-metre glass roof made up of two segments, the elegant sliding roof at the front and the practical tailgate. When opened completely, the roof slides within seven seconds beneath the tailgate, offering an open space above the passenger compartment of 0.45 square meters. The sliding roof comes as standard with a new sunblind offering even greater privacy than before and, when closed, covering the entire area of the sliding roof and opening and closing electrically independently of the roof itself. The glass roof and the tailgate come in special anti-sun glare glass, protecting the occupants even in bright sunshine from UV radiation and excessive heat. With the launch of the new Carrera, Porsche is introducing direct fuel injection also in the company's range of sports cars. The advantages are an increase in engine power by up to 8.5 per cent, a reduction in fuel consumption by 11.2 per cent, and a decrease in CO2 emissions by 13.6 per cent, depending on the respective model and its features. Introducing the new Doppelkupplungsgetriebe or double-clutch gearbox featuring no less than seven gears, Porsche now offers a very interesting option as an alternative to the manual six-speed gearbox. PDK is replacing the former Tiptronic S transmission and excels in particular through its unparalleled speed in shifting gears, combined with superior fuel economy all round. Featuring this outstanding transmission, the new Targa leaves hardly anything to be desired in terms of dynamic driving pleasure: The 911 Targa 4 accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and the even more powerful S-model completes the same exercise in 4.9 seconds – in each case with the manual six-speed gearbox. The optional Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe shifts gears even faster to set an even higher standard, the 3.6-litre Targa 4 with PDK accelerating to 100 km/h in exactly 5.0 seconds, the Targa 4S offering an even faster and more dynamic 4.7 seconds. Yet another change in technology comes on the car's all-wheel drive: In the new 911 Targa electronically controlled PTM Porsche Traction Management replaces the former all-wheel drive with its viscous multiple-plate clutch. This superior system combines the driving pleasure so typical of a Porsche thanks to the engine at the rear and rear-wheel drive as the primary concept with an even higher standard of driving stability, traction, and agile handling. To ensure this supreme class at all times, PTM feeds exactly the right share of engine power and traction additionally to the front wheels in every driving situation through an electronically controlled multiple-plate clutch. And as on all new Carrera 4 models, a mechanical rear axle differential featured as standard gives the car even greater driving dynamics. Technical Specifications Engine: 3.8-litre six-cylinder Aspiration: Natural Maximum Power: 385 hp (283 kW) Maximum Torque: - Transmission: Seven-speed double-clutch (automatic and manual modes) Drivetain: Rear-wheel drive Source: Porsche Press Releases

2009 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR 2009 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR

2009 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR The successful Porsche 911 GT3 RSR takes off into the new model year with extensive modifications. The most powerful race car based on the Porsche 911, which last season secured wins in the American Le Mans Series and at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, competes in the GT2 class at international long distance races. The most distinguishing feature of the new GT3 RSR is the redesigned front with large air outlets on the front hood. Under the light-weight body shell, as well, major changes were made to the quickest 911. Noticeable at first sight are the air outlet slots, or the so-called louvers, on the front hood: an indication of the completely redesigned air ducting of the radiators, which became necessary through the new design of supply and discharge air with the installation of an optional air-conditioning unit. The aerodynamics under the rear underwent further optimization. The rear wing now features a wider adjustment range. The weight-optimized brake system and the lighter wiring harness contribute to further improved handling, compared to the predecessor model. The capacity of the well-known six-cylinder boxer engine increased from 3.8 to 4.0-litres. After another reduction in the size of the air restrictors for the 2009 season, the engine now delivers around 450 hp (331 kW) at 7,800 revs per minute and develops a maximum torque of 430 Nm at 7,250 rpm. The rev limiter of the efficient six-cylinder unit kicks in at 9,000 rpm. Compared to the forerunner, the rev level for a given power output was significantly lowered. Thanks to this, the engine features an optimized torque curve and offers better drivability. In the cockpit, a new multi-function display located above the dashboard indicates the opti-mum moment to change gears. Another new feature is the programmable multi-function, onboard supply system control device, giving teams the choice of many individual functions. One of these is the infinitely adjustable blinking frequency of the lights in the front apron, which helps to immediately recognize race cars when they enter the pits in the dark. For easier servicing under race conditions, other modifications were made. The GT3 RSR now features a new air-jack system with overpressure valve. The oil refill with fast filling function has now moved to the rear lid, giving mechanics better access. Aside from GT3 Cup and the GT3 Cup S, the GT3 RSR is the third race car based on the Porsche 911 offered by Porsche Motorsport. About 20 of the successful long distance racers have been built in Weissach and are now being delivered to customer teams around the world. The GT3 RSR costs 380,000 euros plus VAT specific to each country. Technical Specifications Engine: 4.0 litre six-cylinder Aspiration: Natural Maximum Power: 450 hp (331 kW) @ 7800 rpm Maximum Torque: 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) @ 7250 rpm Transmission: Six-speed manual Drivetain: Rear-wheel drive Source: Porsche Press Releases
